Thanks for visiting Cornwall Dog Rescue. We try to update as often as possible but due to the fast changing nature of the work we do, it can sometimes take a few days to have the time to publish. Our facebook page - Cornwall Dog Rescue - is updated regularly, so please 'like' and keep abreast of our latest news.
This little girl demonstrates what a difference just a
few hours can make. She was taken from the pound
where she didn't have long left - look at her sad little
eyes (on the left) - then taken into foster care whilst
her travel arrangements are made - look at her
sparkly little eyes! This is one of the most heartwarming
moments - knowing the dogs are safe.
A huge Thankyou to everyone who supports us with our dogs of the week rescues. This literally does save a dogs life. Every pound counts. Every penny goes into the dog rescue - we do not have paid staff nor expenses.
We are always looking for donations - please look out for how you can help on our Fundraising page that is soon to be added to the left hand menu. It doesn't have to be money - a sack of dog food, some tinned meat, old towels - everything gratefully accepted. New ideas are constantly being suggested and we'll update on the Fundraising page.
Rescue Mission Appeal:
Can you help us to help these dogs? We are currently raising funds to release them from a filthy dog pound with no sanitation, no beds and no comforts. These young dogs are terrified and depressed and will be put to sleep in a couple of days if no one comes forward. We have lovely people waiting to foster before they can travel to us. Please, if you can, donate through paypal or direct into the Charity Bank Account.
On behalf of the dogs, we cannot thank you enough.
Based near to Truro in Cornwall (UK), we give the dogs in our care the utmost care and respect in order to get them ready for their new home. All dogs are kept in our home or that of foster carers in the area. This helps them to settle quicker and is much calmer for the dogs. We do not have an actual centre that is open to the public.
If you'd be interested in becoming a foster carer for us, please see the 'Help Needed' page.
Cornwall Dog Rescue is awaiting a registration number from HMRC and is registered with the Kennel Club as a rehoming organisation as from August 2013.
Every dog that is rehomed by us will have been neutered, vacinated and undergone assessments by a dog behaviourist in Cornwall.
If the dog is too young to be neutered we will ask that you sign a form stating that you will bring to us/our vets for neutering when old enough.
Cornwall Dog Rescue strongly believe in The Five Freedoms:
1. Freedom from Hunger and Thirst: by ready access
to fresh water and a diet to maintain full health and vigour.
2. Freedom from Discomfort: by providing an appropriate
environment including shelter and a
comfortable resting area.
3. Freedom from Pain, Injury or Disease: by prevention
or rapid diagnosis and treatment.
4. Freedom to Express Normal Behaviour: by providing
sufficient space, proper facilities and company of the
animal's own kind.
5. Freedom from Fear and Distress: by ensuring conditions
and treatment which avoid mental suffering.
We have been rescuing
and rehoming dogs for over 25 years and pride ourselves on being
approachable and supportive throughout the whole process
We have come
across hundreds of heartbreaking situations and always strive to be non
judgemental and professional towards anyone having to part with their dog.
